Got your files. Here is what I skipped.
Nothing disappears quietly
Every file he leaves out is listed with the reason, and the job carries on with the rest.
Attach files to a message
Drop files into a message to Bob, in a channel or in a direct message. Bob saves them on his own computer for that job and works from them.
The limits for one message
- Up to 10 files.
- Up to 10 MB in all, across the files.
- Up to 10 MB for any one file.
Bob goes through files in the order they arrived. After 10 files, the rest are skipped. A file that would push the total past 10 MB is skipped, but smaller files after it can still fit. He tells you which files he skipped and why. The reasons you may see are: over the 10 file limit, over the 10 MB total, too large, the file was empty, the download failed, or Slack gave no download link. If Slack has a hiccup handing the files over, the job still runs on your words alone.
What he can open
Bob’s computer is set up for PDFs, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint decks, CSV files and images. Ask for what you want from the file, such as a summary, a cleaned-up copy or a chart.
Every model Bob offers today can look at images and files. If that ever changes and your model cannot, Bob moves the job to an allowed model that can, and the receipt says so. More on models.
Voice recordings
Bob turns recordings into text first, then works from the words.
- Up to 3 recordings per message, each up to 5 MB.
- mp3, m4a, wav, webm and ogg files work.
- The transcription adds to the cost of the job, and shows in its credits.
- If one cannot be transcribed, Bob keeps the file and says why.
- On a bring-your-own-keys plan, recordings need your OpenAI key set up.
Files Bob sends back
Decks, documents, spreadsheets and charts go straight into the Slack thread, so everyone there sees them without signing in. A file over 25 MB, or one Slack refuses, comes as a link instead. An admin can switch uploads off in Settings, and then every file comes as a sign-in link to the HeyBob console, the website where you sign in with Slack to see and manage Bob.
If a deck may not open cleanly, the receipt says so.
